INTERACTIVITY - R&D - WORKSHOP
Dec 21, 2021A workshop with the German Olympic Sports Federation
In October 2021 Tactile Studio organised a workshop at the Deutsche Olympischer Sportbund e.V. (German Olympic Sports Federation) with four visually impaired and blind people from the BSBH Association in the state of Hesse.
The objective? To evaluate and improve the Federation’s accessibility processes and provision.
Review of accessibility already in place
The Federation has a podotactile path from the car park right up to the entrance hall of the building, enabling visually impaired and blind visitors to orient themselves completely independently.
A tactile orientation map designed by Tactile Studio, located in the entrance hall, allows all visitors to immerse themselves in the public spaces, right from their arrival.
It has Braille, raised writing and high contrast for better legibility.
Evaluating the provision and exchanging on new inclusive perspectives
The workshop was organised in two stages:
1. Evaluating the accessibility provision on offer at the venue
2. Proposing the key improvements for the whole suite of equipment
For the event, Tactile Studio brought together four visually impaired and blind people from the BSBH Association in the state of Hesse.
During a morning conducted in a spirit of sharing and conviviality, they were able to reflect together on new suggestions, such as the extension of the podotactile path outside and inside the building.
Tactile Studio followed up with a full report delivered to the DOSB, enabling the institution to take decisions on the improvement of accessibility of the different devices.
